ReFuels: Biomethane Station Data September 2026
12 October 2026 -- ReFuels N.V. (ticker: REFL), a leading European supplier of renewable biomethane (Bio-CNG) fuel for the decarbonisation of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), today published Bio-CNG station data for September 2026.
* CNG Fuels dispensed 5,639 tonnes of Bio-CNG from 16 public-access refuelling stations, up 8% year-on-year * Average daily dispensed volume was 188 tonnes, up from 174 tonnes in September 2025 * 2,272 vehicles refuelled daily across the station network, up 8% year-on-year * The number of 6x2 Bio-CNG trucks in operation increased to 191 across 25 customer fleets, up from 113 trucks across 12 fleets a year ago
"Currently, we see two opposing effects from the global diesel squeeze on the UK haulage market. Higher diesel prices strengthen the business case for lower-cost, lower-carbon Bio-CNG, but it is also delaying investments in new heavy-duty trucks, with registrations down this year. Against this backdrop, we deliver consistent year-over-year growth in dispensing volumes, execute record-high construction activity with three new stations in-build, and we see continued adoption of Bio-CNG trucks, including the larger 6x2 vehicles," said Philip Fjeld, CEO and co-founder of ReFuels.
The larger 6x2 trucks expand the addressable UK market by approximately six times compared with the established 4x2 segment. The number of 6x2 Bio-CNG trucks operating across the network has more than tripled since the end of 2024. CNG Fuels continues to deploy demonstration vehicles on customer trials, with more than 100 fleets waiting to trial 6x2 Bio-CNG trucks.
Prices for Renewable Transport Fuel Certificates (RTFCs) averaged 16.9 pence in September, compared with 19.1 pence in August. ReFuels has, as previously communicated, secured the expected biomethane requirement for the 2026 obligation year and sold the corresponding RTFCs forward for later delivery, providing margin and profitability visibility. RTFCs are awarded at a rate of 3.8 certificates per kilogram of Bio-CNG dispensed and sold to fuel suppliers with a blending obligation under the UK's Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) scheme.
CNG Fuels supplies biomethane through a growing network of 16 public-access refuelling stations strategically located along major UK trucking routes. Three additional high-capacity stations are under construction in Magor, Swindon and Carlisle, expected to increase network capacity to more than 14,000 HGVs per day by mid-2027.
ReFuels provides monthly operational updates, normally released within ten working days after the end of each month.
