700MHz spectrum award in Bangladesh
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) approved today an allocation of 2x10 MHz of spectrum in the 700 MHz band to Telenor’s 55.8%-owned subsidiary Grameenphone (GP). The company expects to receive an allocation letter and an associated demand note for payment of the first instalment by 29 January. The spectrum will be awarded at the ‘base price’, which will be around BDT 22 billion after final adjustments for license duration (13 years) and other factors.
The spectrum will be paid in 10 equal annual instalments in addition to annual fees at an estimated level of approximately BDT 240 mn from 2027 onwards.
