Adjusted EBITDA of USD 1.1 million, with lower revenues and gross profit weighing on margin • Secured a new Lysoveta supply contract worth USD 4 million in first-year revenues • The company won a new Superba business ranking among the company’s largest customers
“Krill oil sales continued their strong momentum in the second quarter, with revenues up 21% year-over-year on solid volume growth. We are also pleased to have secured a new Lysoveta contract worth USD 4 million in first-year revenues, in addition to a large win for Superba Krill oil, important commercial milestones for our ingredient portfolio”, said Matts Johansen, CEO of Aker BioMarine.
Segment performance Human Health Ingredients grew revenues by 17% year-over-year, with krill oil revenues up 21% to USD 31.5 million. Growth was driven mainly by solid volumes, with price supported by product mix and a higher share of capsulated oil. Gross margin was stable, while EBITDA margin came in slightly below last year on higher SG&A following investments in the sales and marketing organization. Production in Houston was lower in the quarter, impacting QHP sales negatively, but stabilized to normal levels at quarter end.
Consumer Health Products reported revenues of USD 26.4 million, down 6% year-over-year. Lang revenues declined 4%, driven by lower sales through key US retail chains, while Epion continues an ongoing marketing repositioning that is weighing on short-term revenues but is expected to be positive over time. Gross margin came in below last year, driven by Epion, and adjusted EBITDA was lower on reduced revenues and gross profit.
Outlook The Human Health Ingredients segment sees continued year-over-year growth and improved profits, supported by good underlying demand across multiple markets. In Consumer Health Products, revenues are expected to return to modest growth. The Understory sales process is still ongoing with advanced discussions with one interested party. Earlier this year, the Company engaged Jefferies and Houlihan Lokey as investment banks to support the Company in exploring certain interest in the Human Health Ingredient business unit. The mandate related to the Human Health Ingredient business includes exploring different alternatives and work towards a transaction in 2026.
