Building health and welfare centre in Trondheim

09. February 2026 kl. 09:30

Betonmast, a subsidiary of AF Gruppen, has signed a letter of intent with Trondheim Municipality for the construction of the Heimdal health and welfare centre and library in Trondheim. The agreement, which is a turnkey contract with a collaborative approach, has an estimated value of approximately NOK 450 million excluding VAT.

The project involves the construction of a new health and welfare centre in Heimdal, Trondheim, with a total area of around 15,000 square metres. The new centre will include 72 patient rooms and a new zone office for home care services, as well as a district library. The building will comprise three storeys above ground and a two-level underground car park. The health and welfare centre will be certified as Very Good under the new BREEAM-NOR standard. The building will meet passive house standards, and there is a requirement for a partially emission-free construction site.

“We greatly appreciate the confidence shown by Trondheim Municipality. The project combines essential community functions with high ambitions for sustainability and collaboration, and we look forward to developing excellent solutions in close cooperation with the client,” says Peter Sandrup, CEO of Betonmast.

The parties are now entering a collaboration phase that will run until April. A construction contract will then be signed based on a revised price. The project is subject to final political approval, and the contract value will only be included in the order backlog upon signing of the construction contract.

Construction work is expected to start in summer 2026, with project completion planned for November 2028.
