Norske Skog Saugbrugs and Green Mountain are pleased to announce that they have entered into a letter of intent to jointly explore the feasibility of establishing a data centre in Halden. “This collaboration offers an exciting opportunity for long-term value creation and activity in Halden. In parallel, we continue to review a rebuild of PM6 for production of SC magazine paper and kraftliner. We expect to provide an update on these processes during the second quarter this year,” says Geir Drangsland, CEO of Norske Skog.

The Saugbrugs industrial site has been identified as a suitable location to establish a data centre, which would deliver valuable and globally attractive digital services. Earlier this year, Saugbrugs initiated a zoning process to permit data centre operations at its industrial site. Going forward, Saugbrugs and Green Mountain will work together with the municipality and local stakeholders to conclude the process in line with standard regulatory procedures. Establishing a data centre could deliver significant local economic benefits, including increased investment, value creation, and job opportunities.

“We are pleased to explore this opportunity with Saugbrugs. The site offers unique advantages for data centre operations, and we look forward to working together to assess this potential,” says Halvor Bjerke, Managing Director Nordics of Green Mountain.

ABG Sundal Collier is acting as financial adviser to Norske Skog ASA in connection with the process.
