SPAREBANKEN MØRE MORG Rapport

Sparebanken Møre strengthening its position as market leader

29. October 2026 kl. 07:00

Sparebanken Møre has delivered strong lending growth in both the retail and corporate markets, while expenses remain stable and losses are low.

Profit after tax for the third quarter amounted to NOK 262 million, NOK 4 million higher than for the same quarter last year. The return on equity was 12.0 per cent, compared with 12.2 per cent for the same period in 2025.

Growth in both customer segments Sparebanken Møre's corporate lending has increased by 9.4 per cent in the past 12 months, while retail lending has increased by 5.3 per cent. In total, lending grew by 6.7 per cent, well above market growth. Both new and existing customers are contributing to the growth.

"We continue to take market share in Nordvestlandet in a highly competitive market. Professional advisors who understand their customers and local business community are a key factor behind the growth. At the same time, digital solutions are freeing up time that we can then spend advising and following up customers. We're also seeing good growth outside the region," says Trond Lars Nydal, CEO of Sparebanken Møre.

A strong housing market The housing market in Møre og Romsdal is performing well, and prices have risen sharply in 2026. However, compared with other parts of the country, prices remain moderate and well below the national average.

"Residential mortgage demand remains strong despite the rate hike, and the number of customers asking for interest-only periods or payment relief remains low. At the same time, we're monitoring developments closely and prepared for the fact that our customers' situations could change," says Nydal.

Stable expenses and low losses Expenses remain stable and largely unchanged from last year, and losses are low. Bankruptcy figures for Møre og Romsdal have generally mirrored national trends, and the number of bankruptcies is on a downwards trend. Recognised losses amounted to NOK 11 million for the third quarter, compared with NOK 24 million for the same quarter of 2025.

"Expenses were on a par with previous quarters. The fact that we can generate growth without increasing our cost base tells us that we can operate a more efficient bank. Furthermore, we can also see that losses are stable and low," says Nydal.

Good levels of activity in our region, Nordvestlandet The uncertainty in the global economy is considerable, but the Norwegian economy has so far proven resilient. Activity in Nordvestlandet remains strong, particularly in certain sectors of industry and the maritime sector. At the same time, higher interest rates mean that the market conditions for industries such as construction and civil engineering remain challenging. Nonetheless, overall, our region is expected to see a good level of activity going forward.
