Tekna's titanium powder orders from U.S. defense customer increase sixfold

22. July 2026 kl. 14:15

(Arendal, Norway / Sherbrooke, QC, Canada – 22 July 2026) Tekna (OSE: TEKNA), a world-leading provider of advanced materials and plasma systems to industry, today announced it has received a new order from a long-standing customer, a major U.S.-based contract manufacturer supplying precision components to defense original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Including this latest order, the combined value for the year exceeds CAD 3 million, over six times its full-year 2025 demand, marking a significant increase in the scale of the relationship.

The orders are for Tekna's titanium Ti64 (Ti-6Al-4V) powder, a workhorse alloy prized for its strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance, widely used in additive manufacturing of critical aerospace and defense components. The customer, whose identity remains undisclosed at its request, uses the powder to produce parts for defense-related applications.

Approximately half of the volume has already been delivered, with the remaining volume scheduled for delivery through the second half of 2026.

The growth builds on a customer relationship that dates back to 2017. In 2025, Tekna delivered approximately CAD 0.5 million in titanium powder to the same customer, meaning the value of orders placed so far in 2026 represents more than six times the full-year 2025 volume, with five months of the year remaining.

Across its Materials business, Tekna has seen average order values increase materially in 2026, with shorter delivery schedules, consistent with customers ordering for production rather than development.

"This expansion reflects the trust our customer has placed in Tekna's quality, consistency, and reliability over nearly a decade of partnership," said Claude Jean, CEO of Tekna. "Demand for near-shore, high-performance metal powders is accelerating as our customers move additive manufacturing into serial production, and we are proud to support our customer's mission-critical production with material that meets the most stringent industry requirements."

The increased order volume underscores continued momentum in the defense and aerospace additive manufacturing sector, where contract manufacturers are scaling production of titanium components to meet rising demand from OEM customers.
