Veidekke: Ready for construction of School in Sola

13. March 2026 kl. 13:30

Following a long and constructive collaboration phase, Sola Municipality and Veidekke have today signed a contract for the construction of a new primary school and sports hall at Jåsund in Rogaland. The project is a collaborative contract valued at approximately NOK 350 million, excluding VAT.

"We would like to thank Sola Municipality for the trust placed in us. The collaboration phase has been characterised by strong cooperation, a clear focus on objectives and a solution-oriented approach from all parties involved. End users have played a central role in the development of the project, and the balance between ambitions and available funding has been handled well. We can conclude that the municipality has ensured the best possible conditions for a successful and sustainable school project," says Bendik Aarstad, District Manager at Veidekke Bygg Rogaland.

The new school is planned for approximately 420 pupils and will provide modern and flexible learning facilities for both pupils and staff. The sports hall will also serve as an important facility for local sports clubs and community organisations. The development is located in an area experiencing strong population growth, and the new school will help meet the increasing demand for school capacity.

"Jåsund is an area of rapid growth, and the new school will become an important meeting place for both pupils and the local community. We look forward to a good collaboration with Veidekke during the execution of the project," says Janne Stangeland Rege, Mayor of Sola Municipality.

The project has been developed through a collaboration phase between Sola Municipality and Veidekke and is now entering the construction phase. The project has clear environmental ambitions and will be executed as a fossil-free construction site. The new school will meet the requirements of the passive house standard, and the concrete elements will be produced using concrete with an extreme low-carbon quality.

"A collaborative contract is an effective delivery model for maintaining control over quality, cost and progress. Through collaboration, buildability is verified before construction starts, which helps reduce changes and ensures a more efficient project execution," concludes Zakarias Chibssa, Project Manager at Sola Municipality.

Construction is scheduled to start in August 2026, with completion planned for spring 2028.

The contract will be included in Veidekke's order backlog for the first quarter of 2026.
