Good profitability and capacity for further growth
SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge reports a profit before tax of NOK 2,996 million for the first nine months of 2026, compared with NOK 3,296 million in the same period last year. Return on equity is 16.0 per cent, well above the Group's long-term target of 14 per cent.
- We are delivering a good ROE and have a solid foundation for further profitable growth. Our priorities remain firm: we aim to be the first choice for people and businesses in the north, make full use of the ecosystems within the Group and the SpareBank 1 Alliance, and operate ever more efficiently, says CEO Hanne Karoline Kræmer.
The cost-to-income ratio is 33.1 per cent, well within the Group's long-term target of below 35 per cent.
- We launched an efficiency project in spring 2025 with the ambition of reducing annual costs by approximately NOK 50 million by the end of 2026, all else being equal. The work has been based on natural attrition, simpler work processes and cutting activities that do not create value. We have achieved this goal a few months ahead of schedule and have reduced staffing by more than 50 full-time equivalents without using severance packages or other incentives. I am pleased with that, says Kræmer, while emphasizing that the efficiency work will continue in order to maintain the Group's position as a cost leader. Net loan losses total NOK 101 million so far this year, compared with NOK 23 million in the same period last year. The Common Equity Tier 1 capital ratio is 17.0 per cent, compared with 16.2 per cent a year earlier.
- Loss provisions are somewhat higher than at the same time last year, but most of this consists of model-based provisions. Underlying losses remain low, although we have seen a slight increase so far this year. Northern Norway is doing well, even though our region is also affected by uncertainty and geopolitical unrest. Our strong capital position and good profitability provide a sound basis for financing our customers' investments and further developing the Group's position in Northern Norway, regardless of the macroeconomic environment, says Kræmer.
